MORNING DROP OFF
We have arranged our school day to ensure that traffic flow to our premises meets the required standards as there is limited parking on site.
We operate a controlled drop off arrangement which enables parents of children in Reception through to Year 3 to drive on to the school site from Tinsley Lane North between 08.15 and 08.45.
There will be school staff on duty to ensure the safety of your children into the Primary Reception Area.
Parking is only permitted for parents of children in Reception due to the age of the children.
RECEPTION TO YEAR 3
We operate a controlled drop off arrangement which enables parents of children in Year 4 to Year 7 to drive to the rear of the school from Wheatstone Close between 08.15 and 08.45.
There will be school staff on duty to ensure the safety of your children into the rear of the building.
Parking is not permitted for safeguarding reasons
YEAR 4 TO YEAR 7
On site drop off or parking for pupils in Year 8 and above is not permitted unless in exceptional circumstances. If you require a permit, please email info@thegatwickschool.org.uk explaining your reasons for requiring a permit.
We would encourage our older pupils to travel by public transport (see below) or walk into school.
YEAR 8 TO YEAR 11
AFTERNOON PICK UP
We operate a controlled parking arrangement for parents of children in Reception through to Year 7 only at the end of the day.
The school gate located at Tinsley Lane North will be open at 14.35. However, we urge parents to refrain from parking on site until the allocated times, dependent on the age of your child(ren).
We appreciate that you may have children in multiple year groups so we ask that you respectfully park to permit easy access on to the site, and exit from the site.
Reception 14.50 pick up
Years 1 and 2 15.00 pick up
Years 3 to 6 15.15 pick up
Year 7 only 15.30 pick up
On site pick up or parking for pupils in Year 8 and above is not permitted unless in exceptional circumstances. If you require a permit, please email info@thegatwickschool.org.uk explaining your reasons for requiring a permit
STAFF PARKING
Staff are encouraged to car share and travel by public transport as staff parking on site is limited. However, it is recognised that at times parking is required. The School operates a termly parking rota which is managed by the School Office and communicated to all staff at the beginning of each term.
CAR SHARING
Car sharing for all pupils from Year 1 and above is an absolute requirement (where children are not using other means to get to and from school) so that we can manage the traffic flow onto our site; we expect all families to give this option their full consideration. The school helps facilitate this by offering a car share website. We aim for each car to hold at least two pupils. The scheme works really well for parents and children and it is by far the most cost effective approach.
The school has registered with a car sharing website called EASiT. This is a closed, private group and is only accessed by using the link below. Once registered with this website, parents will be able to find other parents who live nearby and make car share arrangements themselves.
Registering is very easy and all you need to do is as follows:
- Login to your easitACCOUNT
- Select either the Green easitSHARE tab at top of the page or the orange easitSHARE - 'Share your journey to work' button on your Dashboard
- Click the My Journey Details Button, complete, save and then search for other sharers.
Users don’t need to have a car to register as they can register if looking for a lift or a buddy for going to work by bike, train, bus, taxi or walking! You can also choose the day/days you would like to ‘share’ - it doesn’t have to be every day!
In addition, West Sussex County Council offer a car sharing scheme which can be found on the link below: https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/travel-and-public-transport/travelwise-sustainable-transport/join-a-car-sharing-scheme/.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
We encourage the use of public transport whenever possible. Due to the location of the School, we are fortunate to be served by a comprehensive bus service run by MetroBus.
Gatwick Road North is the nearest bus stop (in both directions) to the school. Click HERE to find a bus route
